Centerpiece
Needed:- Cake stand, mine is an old milk glass one that had belonged to my grandmother
- Silk flowers in colors of choice,
I used white Magnolia, white Dogwood, mauve unknown, mauve tipped star flower, White and pink violets - Variety of candle shapes and sizes
- Glitter
- Iridescent clear spray
- Small gold ornaments
- 3 clusters of plastic gold grapes (3 sizes if possible)
- Glue
To start - carefully cut off stems of flowers after pushing the leaves up close on the larger flowers
- Set flowers on newspaper and spray with clear iridescent spray, let dry, turn and spray other side
- After they have thoroughly dried use an artist brush to apply glue to the edges of the magnolia petals
- Leave some candles plain, the ones with an edge highlight the tips by applying glue then sprinkling with gold glitter
- Others may be sprayed with the clear iridescent spray
- Add a little water to some glue and apply to the grapes, then sprinkle with gold glitter, be sure to leave the original gold showing through
- Use the same process on the gold ornaments
Arranging: Set candles on the cake plate in a random pattern of shape and sizeFill in between with the grapes and flowers, being careful to make sure a lit candle will not catch them on fireI start with the grapes, then the larger, working down to the smallest. Using a dab of glue where necessary to hold in place
Place the gold ornaments in spaces as a filler I use this arrangement with a metallic gold table cloth, woven white place mats, table runner & napkins with gold thread running through I tie a Metallic gold openwork ribbon in a bow around stemmed milk glass goblets, and use milk glass plates and serving bowls For a napkin ring I cut a paper towel holder in 1 1/2" wide pieces, cover with the gold ribbon then glue a treated magnolia bloom to it
