The Hyten Pottery, later called Eagle Pottery, was started sometime after the mid 1860's by John Hyten
His sons took over the management and by 1909, his son Charles had aquired sole ownership. He renamed the pottery to the Eagle Pottery Co at a later date
Eagle Pottery manufactured until approxamately 1938
Charles formed a second pottery, he called Niloak Pottery Company, (Kaolin spelled backward, after the clay found in the area) around 1911. Niloak Pottery was a stock company with Charles as manager
In the 1930s it developed financial difficulties and stopped production of the "mission" swilrl ware in the late 30s
Hylen sold his stock in 1941
Charles died in 1944 at 57 years old.
Besides the swirl ware there were many other lines produced, many unmarked.
The company eventually evolved into the Winburn Tile Company in 1947, which is in production to this day
