Ellsworth, Kansas and Hot Springs, AR
- James Dryden, Jr's(b1917) first wares were sold out of his fathers Ellsworth store
- 1942 he married Helen Maloney
- 1942-46 wartime service in the Pacific
- 1946 Opened Dryden Pottery
- 1954 to 1956, Dryden made pottery for Van Briggle Pottery they are signed Anna Van Briggle and will usually have a drip glaze over a solid glaze
- 1956 moved the pottery to Hot Springs, AR
- Clays;
Kansas clay was buff colored, and the ware made in Arkansas was a white clay from Tennessee
- Marks;
Kansas (1946-1956) with the shape number also scratched into the clay. Hand-thrown pieces are marked with a Dryden signature and a `9 and another number, such as a 2 - which would mean the piece was produced in 1992. The molded pottery has a raised Dryden mold mark.
