John Bennett was an American (of English decent) potter who originally made pottery in N.Y. City in the later part of the 19th century to the earlier part of the 20th. He originally imported English biscuit clay, but eventually devised his own mixture.
Some of his works are on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art
